Information about RVCC's OER and no-cost course initiative to inform faculty and students

OER Steering Committee

The OER Steering Committee (OERSC) reviews proposals submitted by RVCC faculty for grant-funded projects to adopt OER or convert their courses to no- or low-textbook cost. The OERSC may ask for clarification on proposals or additional information to understand the benefit or impact of the project. Members of the OERSC do not have to use OER in their courses but do need to have an understanding of the goals of the program to reduce costs for students and to encourage faculty to adopt/adapt/create course materials that best align with the course learning outcomes while saving students money. OERSC members will also advocate for no-cost projects among their peers and support faculty in OER adoption or no-cost conversion to the best of their ability. In addition to faculty from each academic division, the OERSC will include a member from a Student Services department.
