Open Educational Resources
Information for RVCC faculty to explore and adopt OER.
This open course from the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges is created entirely in Google docs through the curation of an open textbook, YouTube videos, and an online math homework site (MyOpenMath.com). To see how the materials are curated into a syllabus, view the MATH107 Learning Activities document linked below.
Created for Washington State Community Colleges, Math in Society is a free, open textbook. This book is a survey of contemporary mathematical topics, most non-algebraic, appropriate for a college-level quantitative literacy topics course for liberal arts majors. The text is designed so that most chapters are independent, allowing the instructor to choose a selection of topics to be covered. Emphasis is placed on the applicability of the mathematics. Core material for each topic is covered in the main text, with additional depth available through exploration exercises appropriate for in-class, group, or individual investigation.
MyOpenMath is designed for mathematics, providing delivery of homework, quizzes, and tests with rich mathematical content. Students can receive immediate feedback on algorithmically generated questions with numerical or algebraic expression answers.
