Group Study Rooms

Policy

It is the policy of the Library to provide quiet areas for group study. The library has five rooms designated as Group Study Rooms: L213, L212, L211, L210, and L209. The rooms can be  for the purpose of academic or community projects. They may be reserved for blocks of three hours at a time.

Procedure / Use

  • Group Study Rooms are for use by two or more people.
  • Patrons may reserve a group study room up to one week in advance.
  • Reservations are not required but are highly recommended.  Reservations can be made in person or by calling the Check Out Desk at (908) 218-8865.  Same day use is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • If the group who has reserved the room is more than 15 minutes late, the reservation will be cancelled and the room made available to other groups.
  • If no other reservations have been made, a group can reserve the room for an additional three hours by informing a library staff member at the Check Out Desk before their initial three hours expire.

Be advised:
**The Library is not responsible for personal belongings left unattended anywhere in the Library; unattended items will be moved to the Security Office.**

Use:

  • Should Library Staff observe that a room is occupied  by only one person, he/she will be asked to leave.
  • Should Library Staff observe a group abusing the room (i.e., loud noise, food, playing games, etc.), the group will be asked to leave.
  • Once a group has signed up for a room, they should remain in the room for their allotted time. If the group needs to leave the Library, all belongings must be removed from the group study room.
  • If the group who has reserved the room is more than 15 minutes late, the reservation will be forfeited.
  • No food is allowed anywhere in the Library, including the group study rooms.
