Group Study Rooms

Policy

It is the policy of the Library to provide quiet areas for group study. The library has five rooms designated as Group Study Rooms: L213, L212, L211, L210, and L209. The rooms can be for the purpose of academic or community projects. They may be reserved for blocks of three hours at a time.

Procedure

  • Group Study Rooms are for use by two or more people.
  • Patrons may reserve a group study room up to one week in advance.
  • Reservations are not required but are highly recommended. Reservations can be made in person or by calling the Check Out Desk at (908) 218-8865.
  • Same day use is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • If the group who has reserved the room is more than 15 minutes late, the reservation will be cancelled and the room made available to other groups.
  • If no other reservations have been made, a group can extend their reservation for an additional three hours by informing a library staff member at the Check Out Desk before the initial three hours expire.
  • The Library is not responsible for personal belongings left unattended in group study rooms; unattended items will be sent to the Security Office.

Use

  • Individuals using a room alone may be asked by Library Staff to vacate the room to give preference to a group.
  • If a group is abusing their use of the room (i.e., making loud noise, food, playing games, etc.), Library Staff will ask the group to leave.
  • Once a group has signed up for a room, they should remain in the room for their allotted time. If the group needs to leave the Library, all belongings must be removed from the group study room.
  • No food is allowed anywhere in the Library, including the group study rooms.
