How do I get books/DVDs when I cannot access the library stacks?

When you are unable to access the stacks yourself, library staff can retrieve a requested book for you to be picked up.

When the book is in the library on the shelf

In the list of results from your search, click on the title of the book you are interested in. You will see a "Place Hold" button on the right in the How to get this item area. Click that, sign in with your G# and password, and submit the form! You will receive a notification to your college email account when the book or DVD is ready to be picked up. Books will usually be ready for pick up within 24 hours, and we will keep them behind the desk for you for 1 week.

When the book is checked out by another user

In the list of results from your search, you will see when the book is due. This can give you an idea of how quickly you could get the book if you place a hold.

After you click the title, you have two options to gain access to this book. In the How to get this item panel, you can request the item through Interlibrary Loan. Learn more about Interlibrary Loan on the dedicated catalog help page. It can take up to two weeks to get a book through Interlibrary Loan.

You can still place a hold on this book! Click on "View details" to jump down to the bottom of the screen to place a hold.
