Help for patrons using the Library's Books & Media Catalog

How do I get books/DVDs when the library or library stacks are closed?

When you are unable to access the stacks yourself (such as during the Fall 2020 semester), library staff can retrieve a requested book for you to be picked up.

Due to hygiene concerns, library users who are not RVCC students or employees are not able to place holds or check out materials during the COVID-19 pandemic, at least through the Fall 2020 semester. Please use the Ask Us! button at the top of the page to chat with or email a librarian to find alternative methods to access desired materials.

When the book is in the library on the shelf

In the list of results from your search, click on the title of the book you are interested in. You will see a "Place Hold" button under Check Availability. Click that, sign in with your G# and password, and submit the form! You will receive a notification to your college email account when the book or DVD is ready to be picked up. Books will usually be ready for pick up within 24 hours.

When the book is already checked out

You will still see a "Place Hold" button under Check Availability. Click that, sign in with your G# and password, and submit the form! You will receive a notification to your college email account when the book or DVD is ready to be picked up; this depends on the current user's due date, which is listed below the button. Books and DVDs will not be ready immediately after they are returned, so please check your email for when it is available to be picked up.
