OpenAthens Single Sign-On (SSO) has replaced EZProxy authentication for remote access to library electronic resources.

What does this mean for you?

Hopefully, you don't notice much of anything! You will log in the same way you're used to logging into Lions' Den or Canvas with the same multi-factor authentication process. If you do notice anything, it will be increased speed in accesing the library's electronic resources and seamless access to these tools around the web.

Why move to OpenAthens?

OpenAthens Single Sign-On (SSO) is an authentication management system that provides seamless access to the library’s licensed online resources. OpenAthens gives our users a consistent access experience across campus. Access to library content matches your login experience to Lion's Den, RVCC Email, and Canvas.

  • OpenAthens Single Sign-On session remains active for 8 hours, unless you clear browser cache and cookies
  • OpenAthens uses a more secure method (SAML) to authenticate, so account security is better

Create new authenticated link

Links on the library's A-Z Databases page have been updated to authenticate with OpenAthens. We recommend using provided links first and only using this link generator if this is not possible. Please reach out to your liaison librarian with any questions!

Links beginning with https://library.raritanval.edu do NOT need to be updated, all of the changes for them happen behind the scenes.
