Librarians Are Here To Help!
The semester is winding down and final papers are coming due. The RVCC Evelyn S. Field Library is here to help you with finding sources. Stop by the Reference/Information Desk and speak with a Reference Librarian.
Or use the "Live Chat" button on the Library's home page.
If you are in the middle of your own search, an "Ask Us" button may appear on the side of the page. You can also use this to chat with a librarian.
If the Library is closed, you will see "Email a Librarian" instead.
If you email your question, you should receive help within 24 hours excluding Sundays and holidays. The Library hours are Monday through Thursday 8AM to 9PM, Friday 8AM to 5PM and Saturday 11AM to 4PM. Here are a few of the Library's Search Help flyers to get you started.
You can also visit our guide on Scholarly Articles
library.raritanval.edu/scholarlyarticles/where-to-find, to learn more or to watch a video of how to search in RVOneSearch.
So next time you are stuck in your research or writing a paper, check out the Library website, library.raritanval.edu and chat with one of us. We are here to help you!

Visit the Library's guide on Citation Help,
https://library.raritanval.edu/citation, to access links to help with in-text and Reference Page/Works Cited citations.
The guide provides help for all citation styles commonly used at RVCC. Select your citation style and get links to helpful sites and videos as well as sample sheets created for each style.
Whether or not you need help with citations, if you are a student who has read this far, go to the Library Check Out desk and tell us the number of citation styles that are listed on the Works Cited Help guide. A $10 Starbucks gift card will be given to the first student who lets the Check Out desk know the correct answer! Previous winners are not eligible.
Also, you can access quick photo reference flyers for specific source types within MLA and APA citation styles. Below is the flyer for the MLA citation format for a scholarly article from a database.

The Most Important Class You Never Knew You Needed (Until Now!)
The ability to determine if the information you’re getting is reliable, complete, accurate, credible, and unbiased has never been more important than in recent years. We are constantly flooded with information from all different places and in all different formats. How do you separate the good stuff from the noise?
To help students navigate our complex online world and information overload, the Library offers a 1-credit general education course that has zero textbook cost and works on developing skills and strategies for dealing with information in the real world.
INFO 101 – Information Seeking in Today’s World is a 10-week late start online course offered in the spring semester, beginning on Monday, February 14th - Valentine's Day. This course encourages students to think about where and who information comes from and how the use of certain technologies can influence the real and perceived value, credibility, and usefulness of a source. A final project enables students to create a real-world product that will help future students.
This course meets the Technological Competency general education requirement and can be used to fill a 1-credit free elective in several programs.
To register for INFO 101, enter CRN 28370 in the registration worksheet or search for INFO 101 in EduNav. Contact Megan Dempsey ( megan.dempsey@raritanval.edu) with any questions.
Start the new semester on Valentine's Day and fall in love with information this spring!

Now that we are heading into the final stretch of the fall semester, you may be looking for a quiet place to study or work on your final project. There are over 25 private study carrels on the second floor of the Library. Plus, the second floor is silent study only!
Didn't know there was a second floor? Wondered where most of the print book collection is shelved, how to get to the group study rooms, or where the silent study section of the Library is located? The stairs and elevator for the second floor are by the LCD screen on your right as you enter the Library. Come in and head upstairs to check it out!

Library Relaxation Activities
Visit the RVCC Evelyn S. Field Library for your research, to work on your assignments and to study, but don't forget to come to the Library to relax! Take a few minutes to put some pieces in a puzzle, color, or do a quick craft.
Studies have shown that during college finals in addition to studying, students should remember to eat healthy, get a good amount of sleep and take a moment to RELAX.
Drop in to the RVCC Library this month to color some holiday art sheets or make a push pin festive lantern.
Remember to study hard but don't forget about self care.
If you don't get a chance to come into the Library, check out these sites where you can take a break while working on your computer wherever you are studying and play free games:

Byrdle is like Wordle, but the word is related to choral music!
