Informative Speech: To convey information with the goal of broadening your audience’s understanding of your topic.
4-5 minute speech
Use 3 outside sources minimum. Traditional sources or others specific to the topic, including interviews.
These can be:
- scholarly journal articles
- reputable magazine and/or newspaper articles
- trustworthy and high-level organizational websites
- various forms of media (video, audio, etc.)
- books
- you may include interviews
You must provide citations for your sources.
Broad learning goals
- Develop an appropriate topic that is informative, not persuasive
- Find appropriate web and library sources for inclusion in a speech
- Evaluate sources for credibility, accuracy, and relevance
