Library Catalog Help

Help for patrons using the Library's Books & Media Catalog

How can I access non-circulating materials while the library is closed?

While the physical library is closed, Library staff will fulfill requests for scans of chapters or sections of reference books, as well as print magazines and newspapers. We cannot scan an entire book or magazine. You must request the specific section, chapter, or pages needed. Scan requests must be limited to a reasonable amount (maximum of two chapters at a time for textbooks).

If the item you need is a circulating book, use the Books & Media Search to place a hold for check out and we will arrange contactless pickup for you. Learn how to do that in the Request the Book section of this guide.

Due to hygiene concerns, community patrons are not able to request scans during the COVID-19 pandemic, at least through the Fall 2020 semester. Please use the Ask Us! button at the top of the page to chat with or email a librarian to find alternative methods to access desired materials.

How will I know whether a book/periodical is available for scanning?

Reference books and periodicals will have a specific message in the catalog that links to the scanning form.
