    Britannica Online contains the complete Encyclopedia Britannica, as well as Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and the Britannica Book of the Year. Like any general encyclopedia, it is a good place to begin research and understand the basic facts of your topic. The "World" link provides a particularly valuable collection of maps, linked to geographical data in the encyclopedia. There is also a dictionary available at the same site.
