News!
*NEW* MLA and APA Citation Help Pages
The Citation Help pages for both MLA and APA style have been updated to reflect the most recent editions of both style manuals. The new design of the pages makes it easier to find the format for whatever source you are citing. Instructions for citing sources within the body of your paper and formatting a Works Cited page are also included.
MLA style is based on the new MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 7th Edition. APA style is based on the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th Edition.
A one-page (double-sided) handout of the most common citations for each style can be printed by selecting the Print Version link on the upper right hand side of both webpages. Happy citing!

The Library is waiting for you!
Welcome to all new and returning students from the library staff! Whether it's your first time on campus or your hundred and seventy-eighth, we hope you'll stop by the library and check out all that we have to offer!
- Remember that you can have a student ID card made in the library, and an ID is required to check out library materials.
- We have an excellent collection of bestsellers and award winning books on display near the Check Out desk. Pick up something to read for fun before the semester really gets you bogged down!
- Already stressed out? Unwind with a DVD this weekend, like Gran Torino or Revolutionary Road. We have both, and many more DVD's, for a lot less than your cable On Demand - because they're FREE!
- Desperately need to update your Facebook status? We have computers available too! Be sure to Become a Fan of Raritan Valley Community College while you're on thereā¦and maybe check your Lion's Den for important emails while you're at it.
- Don't forget we have 2 floors! Head upstairs to the Quiet Study area when you need to get away from the ringing cell phones and constant chatter.
Have a great semester and we hope to see you all soon!

Remember Your ID!
To All RVCC Students, Faculty, Staff, and Administrators:
Please remember that your RVCC College ID is required to check out materials from the library. Old ID cards will no longer be accepted.
The College ID policy is in place for two important reasons:
- First, if you would like to access your library account online, your College ID barcode must be in our system. By accessing your account online, you can renew books and check their due dates from your office or home.
- Second, the library needs to follow privacy guidelines. We have over 10,000 library accounts including students, college employees, and patrons from the community. By using a College ID, the correct account will always be used, minimizing the chance of materials being checked out on the wrong account - usually on an account with the same name or a very similar one. Also, many students and employees have accounts with one of the Somerset County Library branches. We want to ensure that we are using your RVCC library account, not the one from your town library.
Please be advised, that exceptions will not be made. A College ID must be presented by all students, faculty, staff, and administrators when checking out materials. Student IDs may be obtained at either the Library or the Student Activities Office.
We hope to see you in the Library this semester!
