Obama proclaims Nat. Information Literacy Month
On October 1, President Obama signed a proclamation declaring October, 2009 as National Information Literacy Awareness Month. Acknowledging that we live in a society where we are inundated with information through "a 24-hour news cycle and thousands of global television and radio networks, coupled with an immense array of online resources," the statement calls on us to recognize how important it is to distinguish "truth from fiction and signal from noise" by learning to evaluate information.
