Sony Reader Tip Sheet
- Turn the Reader on
- Power button is on the top of the Reader, slide to turn on/off
- Use the stylus to select a book to read
- The stylus is in a slot in the upper-right area of the device. Pop it out with your finger
- Tap on the "Collections" area
- Tap the "RVCC Library Books" collection
- Find a title you want to read and tap on it
- Use the Next or Previous page buttons (beneath the screen, labeled < and > ) to navigate through the book
- Or brush the stylus or a finger lightly across the screen from left to right to move forward, or right to left to move backward
- Change the font size (while in a book)
- Press on the magnifying glass button that appears beneath the screen
- Use the stylus to select the font size
- Tap X to close the font selection bar
- Try out a couple of different font sizes to compare the reading experience
- Look up a word in the dictionary
- Tap on a word twice to get a quick definition of a word
- Click on the book icon for a more detailed definition
- Add a note or highlight (while in a book)
- To highlight a single word, tap on the word twice
- Tap the "highlighter" icon to highlight the word
- To highlight a longer passage, press the Options key, then tap on "Create/Edit Notes" - the Notes / Highlight editing bar appears
- Click the Highlighter icon on the Notes / Highlighting bar
- Drag the stylus across the text you want to highlight
- Note that you cannot turn pages using the touch screen when the Notes / Highlighting bar is active, but you can use the < and > keys
- Close the Notes / Highlight editing bar by clicking the "X"
- To type a Note, tap once on any highlighted text (Notes / Highlighting bar must not be open)
- Select "by Keyboard"
- Use the keyboard at that appears on the screen, together with the stylus, to enter a note. Tap "Done" when finished
- To draw a note, tap once on any highlight text. Select "by Drawing."
- Simply write your note using the stylus in the box that appears
- Alternatively click the scribble icon on the Notes / Highlighting Bar and scribble right onto the text of the book
- Add a bookmark
- From any page, tap twice quickly on the upper-right hand corner of the page
- You will see a "turned down" or "dog-eared" mark
- To view Notes, Highlights, and Bookmarks
- Tap on the Notes button on the Notes / Highlighting bar
- If you have more than one note, highlight, or bookmark, they'll all show up here
- When you're done exploring the Reader, turn off using the switch on the top
