At Raritan Valley Community College, faculty, students, administration and staff recognize that information literacy skills are a valuable asset to lifelong learning. Research projects can be viewed as opportunities to learn the information literacy skills needed for life.
This tutorial is intended to assist RVCC students by summarizing the library instruction given by librarians in the classroom and at the reference desk. The tutorial recognizes that research is best approached in an orderly and logical series of steps. Not every research project will require all of the steps but it is best to begin at the top of the list and proceed down through the list.
Begin your research when the research project is assigned and you will be able to avail yourself of the many tools and services which the library provides. If you choose a topic you are interested in and leave yourself the necessary time to do the work, research can be fun.
